AnnualCreditReport.com is the real deal
Don't be fooled by other websites and singing commercials about getting a free credit report - they aren't really free! Here's a simple rule of thumb for the internet: if they ask you for a credit card, it's not free! But back to the task at hand... we've all seen the misleading free credit report commercials about free credit reports and at the very end of the commercial, they'll say something like, 'offer applies when enrolled in [name of product]' which they charge a monthly fee for. The only way to get a credit report free is from AnnualCreditReport.com, which is available to you every 12 months. They can't afford to get their commercials on TV, but they have produced a parody of the free credit report commercials you see on TV all the time - check it out here.
Starbucks.com has a new interface
The new interface at Starbucks.com is truly a miracle. The previous version was cumbersome, frustrating and perhaps evil as the site was relatively easy to keep pumping money onto your Starbucks card but extremely difficult to check your balance or process other routine functions. The new version is a delight of speed and organization. One merely has to select the 'Manage my cards' option and everything is perfectly clear - including your current balance, so you don't have to blindly pump money onto your card because you have no idea what your balance is and you're getting too frustrated to continue your search. Now, they're offering you a free drink on your birthday - how nice of them! This, too, is giving them essential demographic information about their customers... sigh. The things we do for coffee... caffeine is a drug, after all. But again, kudos to Starbucks.com for their new interface - it is most definitely a great site.
