Doubt
MyTriState.us Score: 5 out of 5
Meryl Streep dunks over Philip Seymour Hoffman in Doubt, a drama centered around a nun and a priest who both work at a Catholic Elementary school. To say much more, we think would spoil the plot, and this movie is so good that we don't want to do this. Bad job by the company that released this film; this movie should have been marketed a lot harder, its a great film. While Kate Winslet was great in The Reader, Meryl Streep was better in Doubt - you have to wonder if Winslet got the Oscar because The Reader has a tie in with the Holocaust. Winslet may have even eluded that Streep was better in Doubt in her acceptance speech, but between the Holocaust link and Winslet's potrayal of a character over several decades of the character's life, Winslet had the more Academy Award friendly role. They're both worth seeing, so check them out! But back to Doubt: Hoffman also delivers a great performance and keeps you on your toes... again, we don't want to say too much or tempt you with spoilers, so check out Doubt; we doubt you'll regret it. What the... that's a TERRIBLE pun! FYI, the trailer gives away too much - go in cold, its better!
