Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
3 out of 5
A lot of folks told us they didn't care for Transformers Revenge of the Fallen despite being big fans of the first Transformers movie. We're struggling with that, but we'll do our best to piece it together.
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is 150 minutes long, about 30 minutes too long, although the movie doesn't drag very heavily. It's full of tons of action sequences, and the robot on robot fight sequence, framing and over all camera style is much improved from the first Transformers movie, meaning that you can tell what's going on, although not necessarily who's doing what to who. They need to add more color to those bad boys! And that's a good point, are there any female transformers? Was one of the motor cycles a woman?
There was way to much exposition this movie. Kudos to Shia LaBeouf for constantly explaining the plot and not making it sound like nails on a chalk board. Also, watch the trailer - BumbleBee is still having trouble talking? They said its been two year! They fixed it at the end of the first movie, didn't they? Jeez!
From a logical standpoint, the Decepticons never really got much revenge on the autobots, so we feel the movie was mistitled. We're just going to go ahead and ruin the movie for folks who haven't seen it from here on out, so be aware. So Optimus Prime dies and then they resurrect him, and Megatron gets another reserection? Guess he doesn't get one in the third movie as he didn't die this time. Any why couldn't the resurrect Prime the same way the Decepticons resurrected Megatron? And Megatron was laying under water for two years, wasn't he? Instead, it took the whole damn movie for Prime to get off the ground and kick ass.
Way to much Green Day and Lincoln Park in this movie. Do they have the same record company? It was especially concentrated, so as soon as you were glad they turned the crap off, they'd cut back to Megan Fox's character and boom, more Green Day. That song '21 guns' sucks, by the way.
The movie has its faults, no doubt. One of the autobots calls somebody 'a pussy.' Seriously. But it was essentially the exact same movie as the first one, so maybe that and the long running time bored folks who loved the first one. Bottom line, the movie is pretty forgettable, but then, so was the first one.
