Michael Jackson
We're sad about Michael Jackson; we remember him before his reputation was ruined and his appearance changed so radically. He was an undeniable multi-tooled talent there may never be an equal to on the stage. Read more...

Dave Matthews Band: Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King

Dave Matthews Band: Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King

Praise your respective God(s), the new Dave Matthews Band album is great! OK, this might be a case of generous praise as the songs cover the standard Dave Matthews lyrical topics, but there is something to be said about a great sound, and Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King sounds amazing and after listing to Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown, this is actually a breath of fresh air. Featuring Tim Reynolds, Jeff Coffin and Rashawn Ross, this may very well be the follow up to Before These Crowded Streets that we always wanted and never got. Read more...

Green Day: 21st Century Breakdown

green day 21st Century Breakdown

The reports that 21st Century Breakdown is a rock opera have been grossly exaggerated. If you miss the 90s, Pearl Jam has an album coming out later this year. Read more...

Alanis Morissette
The lyrics in the Alanis Morissette song "Ironic" aren't especially ironic, they just kind of suck. Read more...

Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy
Wikipedia cites that Guns N' Roses new album, Chinese Democracy, has been in production since 1995. From that point to now, no original band members remain besides Axel Rose - we're pleased to note that his voice has held up well over the nearly two decades worth of waiting. Now, we're the first to admit that we're not the biggest Guns N'Roses fans (it's hard to get behind a band that has an apostrophe in their name), but we were curious to see what this alubum would sound like without Slash, one of the biggest names in hard rock guitar. Apprently, the line up we came to know just couldn't get along. Read more...

Weezer drops The Red Album
After Weezer's 2005 effort (Make Believe) destroyed our faith in humanity, we were a bit skitish about pickig up The Red Album. We weren't totally wrong, but The Red Album makes Make Believe look like Battlefield Earth... or something. So, the American version of The Red Album has 10 songs, so we'll start there. Read more...

NJ.com posts 2007 top 10 albums
NJ.com has posted their top 10 favorite albums of 2007. Head over to their site for the full list.
Ever heard of Arcade Fire, Amy Winehouse, Lupe Fiasco or Arctic Monkeys? OK, we've either never heard of them or are only vaguely familiar with them, so don't feel too bad. But these days, when it comes to art, "I never heard of them" is the best sentence there is. Chances are, if you tune into NYC's one and only contemporary rock station (which plays a TON of stuff that's over a decade old) 92.3, you hear stuff you're sick of or stuff that's extremely unappealing. Seriously, is anyone really interested in hearing "About a girl" from Nirvana's unplugged 1993 performance (released in 1994 after Coban's death) for the thousandth time?
Anyway, we're adding most of their top 10 to our shopping list in hopes of a better tomorrow and an end to the painful music scene we're currently stuck in. Check it out; there's got to be something better out there than Finger Eleven and Sublime reruns. (You're not getting off light, Finger Eleven; we'll be back for you.)

NPR provides reviews of 21 new Christmas CDs
NPR.org has posted reviews of 21 new Christmas CDs that we just won't have the time (or patience) to get through. Check out our Music page for more Christmas music info; our Music Reviews page is not live yet. We're working on that...

Rating Scheme
1 = incomprehensible: like sitting in traffic, going to the dentist or listening to a Finger Eleven album
2 = bad: you listened to it once and never again... but at least you weren't sitting along in the dark drinking that cheap vodka brand that comes in a plastic bottle
3 = average: you fee like maybe you've hard this song before. but, it didn't make you want to tear your eyes out with spoon
4 = good: better than most albums, but no one is going to study this for hundreds of years
5 = excellent: you'd sell your grandmother's false teeth for a copy of the album
