NJ State Parks may close in July
New Jersey budget problems may force state parks to close, as seen here at The Record's website.
This doesn't sound like a tough problem to fix. If over 17 million people visit NJ state parks, just charge everybody a dollar to park or for admission (assuming we're not already doing this at all parks). That'll make up the $4.5 million budget gap , no? How much could it possibly cost to keep these parks open? Fisherman purchase a license each year that is supposed to cover fish stocking fees (this entire concept is bizarre, by the way). The NJ state budget is a mess and our economy is in recession, not to mention the gas costs just to get to the park in the first place. But our guess is that this is someone's political power play.
