Important Things with Demetri Martin
Important Things with Demetri Martin stars Demetri Martin. We can't stress that enough. You might have seen Demetri Martin doing a Comedy Central special - he'd be the dude with a guitar and a big ass pad, dispensing truth at a leisurely rate. One of the great things about the success of The Chappelle Show was that it gave Comedy Central the confidence to give comics their own show, and in some cases, it's worked out pretty well (see The Sara Silverman Program for an example of this) and other times, it's sucked pretty hard (see The Mind of Mencia for an example of this), but we digress. Demetri Martin has put together a fun show with a diverse format all its own while recalling a directing style of perhaps Wes Anderson. It's a fun show and even when something isn't working, it's over quickly, so there's no Saturday Night Live like moments of pain. You might see clips and not find it particularly humorous, but the show works well in context - each episode examines "one important thing" such as timing, as in, good timing or bad timing: if a bird poos on your shirt, the bird has good timing while you have bad timing, but if a bird poos on another bird, the bird that took the poo has great timing. Check the trailer, tune into this guy and enjoy. Congrats, guy - so far, so good!
